Ka Lei Friends
MBFT Media was founded in 1998 to disseminate multicultural and historical information of Hawai‘i via print, multi-media and public relations services. It also plans and designs programs, events and exhibits that promote local cultural values. Key amongst MBFT’s associates is the legendary comedy team, Booga Booga. Today, Ed Ka‘ahea and Dave Lancaster carry on the tradition established by the group’s founding members, Ed, James Grant Benton and Rap Reiplinger, and help Ka Lei Eggs to spread the word that “local fresh is mo-bettah” through radio, television and personal appearances.
Read To Me International (http://www.readtome-intl.com). Ka Lei Foods is proud to support the Hawaii-based Read to Me International organization. Read to Me International is founded on the belief that every child should be read to every day for 10 minutes. Ka Lei supports Read To Me’s efforts to address the literacy needs of children, the importance of reading aloud to children, and raising children who value and love reading.
KSSK Easter Bunny Tour – With the assistance and expertise of KSSK Radio, Ka Lei Foods and Read to Me International fanned the imaginations and brought smiles to the faces of hundreds of youngsters via its 2004 and 2005 Easter Bunny Tour. The event featured live readings to schoolchildren by such talented luminaries as former First Lady Lynne Waihee, Wally Amos, Augie Tulba, Lanai Boy, Ed Ka‘ahea and Dave Lancaster. The 2004 Tour visited Liholiho Elementary, Pauoa Elementary, Kaewai Elementary, and Lunalilo Elementary schools, while the 2005 Tour visited Kaewai Elementary, Kalihi-Kai Elementary, Kalihi Waena Elementary, and Kalihi Uka Elementary schools.
Kalakaua Foundation – In addition to grooming many of Hawaii’s most outstanding young basketball players, Dennis Agena’s renowned Kalakaua Foundation offers Hawaii’s young people needed guidance, discipline, support and motivation during their most challenging years. Ka Lei Foods is especially proud to support the Kalakaua Foundation by donating eggs to its weekly breakfast sales because of our family’s longstanding friendship with Dennis. |
